About Debate Mate
Debate Mate is a social business that uses debating to deliver key skills to young people in areas of high child poverty. Focusing on developing communication, interpersonal and higher-order thinking skills, and building confidence and self-esteem, Debate Mate uses university student volunteers to deliver a range of innovative, cutting-edge educational programmes.
Debate Mate works with young people of all abilities, providing opportunities to children in some of the UK’s most challenging schools.
Based in the Brixton area, our Core Programme runs in person in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool, Wales and online across the UK. Debate Mate also operates in USA, Israel, Jamaica, Africa, Nepal and the UAE, and are a rapidly expanding organisation. 6000 young people take part in Debate Mate clubs each week, 800 university students currently mentor on Debate Mate programmes, and Debate Mate runs some of the biggest debating competitions in the UK. Debate Mate is supported by Bank of America, Deloitte, UBS, Goldman Sachs, the BBC, Comic Relief, NOW: Pensions, Slaughter and May, Simmons and Simmons, Shearman and Sterling, major hedge and investment funds, and others.

Programme Director

Salary: £19,600 – £21,600

Interviews will take place via video conferencing the week commencing the 8th of May. There will be a second round of interviews for candidates who are successful in the first round. All candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check as per our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and our Safer Recruitment Policy.
