Debate Mate are looking for someone to fill a new position: 

Director of Programmes, Debate Mate Schools.

Debate Mate Schools is a global social business that uses debating to deliver key skills to young
people in areas of high child deprivation. The Debate Mate programme is proven to develop
communication, teamwork, leadership and critical-thinking skills, while improving students’ confidence
and resilience.
 
Debate Mate recruits and trains 500 university students to deliver its unique and innovative
programme in 220 schools across the UK. Each week, nearly 5,000 students from a diverse range of
backgrounds and abilities attend after-school debate clubs. The programme is punctuated by various
competitions, including the Urban Debate League and the Debate Mate Cup. These two competitions
are the largest of their kind in the world.
 
Headquartered in Brixton SW2, Debate Mate Schools operates programmes in London, the West
Midlands, Manchester, Liverpool, Grimsby Town and Cardiff, as well as running a virtual programme
for eligible schools across the country. Debate Mate also delivers International Summer Programmes
in Nepal, Kenya and Rwanda.
 
Debate Mate Schools is supported by, and partners with, a number of high-profile organisations,
including: Bank of America, Sony Music UK, Now Pensions, Department for Education, Oxford
University, The Houses of Parliament, Teach First, Simmonds & Simmonds and Deloitte. We have
also run programmes in association with Save the Children, the BBC, Sky News,
the Economist, Unicef, Ernest and Young, Wadham College, Oxford, the University of Cambridge and
many others.
 
Debate Mate runs a high successful teacher training programme, and has delivered training on a
large scale to Teach First, various LEAs and school federations.

 London based, one day work from home and 4 days in our Brixton office. 

The post will begin on 2nd September 2024 with a few days of induction during the week of the 26th
